Trip to Texas

Early in February, I traveled to Austin, TX, to attend a conference. When I left, the temperature at home was something like -12 degrees! This was the temperature when I reached Oklahoma City!

This was the temperature when I reached Fort Worth!

This is what it looked like just south of Oklahoma City. I stopped seeing snow somewhere in Kansas, and when I reached Oklahoma I lost my coat somewhere in the back of my SUV. Eventually, the temperature reached 82 degrees! After a few days, the cold air followed me and the temperature in Austin reached down into the 50s.

My son came with me to Texas. Here he is helping me prepare for my presentation! I think he really improved it.

Underwood's has some of the best tasting food. I always try to find a way to pass through Brownwood, TX, just to get some. I highly recommend it!

Underwood's has a drive through so you don't have to leave your car to get some good food. Afterwards, you can drive across the street and have your beer delivered to your car, too!

One of the few things I was able to do besides attend my symposium and drive was visit the Texas State History Museum.

The museum has a very impressive lobby area.

After the museum, I walked to the Texas State Capitol building. It was about 4:30pm on a Wednesday and no one seemed to be home! That's me waving!

After the capitol building, Rody and I walked to the Texas Chili Parlor. Very good nachos and lots of atmosphere! I tend to find lots of places to eat when I travel; other places I visited included the Catfish Parlor and Ironworks (all highly recommended).

While driving across Texas, the Department of Public Safety let me know that my brake lights were out. Rody fixed that at the nearest Wal-Mart
