O and C on the second story of one of the structures at the Manitou Cliff Dwellings, near Colorado Springs. The rectangular portal behind O is actually a door despite its size. M and I figured that the adult Native Americans who built these dwellings would only have been about her height in order to fit through the doors comfortably.

A view from inside the cliff dwellings, at Manitou Cliff Dwellings, near Colorado Springs. The temperature inside felt 20 degrees cooler than outside, so it was easy to see why people would live there.

Manitou Cliff Dwellings, near Colorado Springs. These buildings house the gift shop and museum. The museum was small but very interesting. The gift shop actually goes underground into the cliff walls.

This is the view looking up the hiking trail at Sandia Peak. M and C are on the left, and the visitor center is on the upper right. Although we didn't hike far, you can really feel the altitude while breathing.

The hiking trail at the top of the Sandia Peak. On the left is a forest, and on the right is the edge of the cliff.

From the observation deck at Sandia Peak. The deck projected out over the edge of the cliff...I had a little trouble walking out to the edge! The elevation of the peak is 10,678 feet.

These humingbirds put on a great show on the observation deck at Sandia Peak. We could get as close as three feet to them.

This panorama collage shows a view over the cliff from the Sandia Peak in New Mexico. It was a very sunny day, so Albuquerque can be seen in the distance but the view is obscured. The altitude was 10,678 feet according to the GPS, and you can see that it is a long, long way down! And "yes", I am standing on the edge of the cliff!

Why do parents put themselves through this? This will only lead to grief later!

We went to a pizza/arcade restaurant and the kids went crazy playing games and going on rides.

While in Albuquerque, we also got to briefly visit with my cousin Amylee and her children.

In one area at the Albuquerque Aquarium, you are surrounded by a tank filled with sharks and other sea life. It's a very immersive experience (and also a well air conditioned relief from the 100+ temperature outside).

What would outdoor living be without making smores? Although it was really hot outside it was quite nice (and then it rained on us for five minutes).

This is the view of Sandia from Nikki and Keith's backyard in Rio Rancho. They have a great view! When I took this picture we could hear coyotes in that open space in the foreground.

Did I mention that C and T got along really well?! Apparently, they are both big fans of Scooby Doo.

While in New Mexico, we also got to see our cousins. T was a lot of fun, and he got along really well with C. We went to the Ellis's house for dinner and had a great time swimming and eating smores!
