After leaving the Albuquerque Children's Museum, we all went to Little Anita's for lunch. This is O and Grandma in a really good mood!

In this exhibit at the Albuquerque Children's Museum, kids learned about the Bernoulli Effect. The two nozzles directed jets of air that could be used to suspend one or more inflated balls in mid air.

Another cool way to teach kids about science and engineering at the Albuquerque Children's Museum. This glass case was a small wind tunnel with a model airplane on one end (which is visible here) and a series of fans on the other (just out of frame on the left). Kids sat in the seat on the right side of the picture and adjusted the controls on the plane and the air speed (really just the speed of the fans). The case kept the plane from flying away inside the museum. It was surprisingly difficult to get the plane to take off correctly, and required a sensitive and patient touch. M had some trouble getting it off the ground, but C did a good job!

C seemed most interested in playing with this train set at the Albuquerque Children's Museum.

What better way to learn about fluid dynamics than figuring out how to use air to hit someone with a ball?

Learning about fluid dynamics at the Albuquerque Children's Museum. The museum has a lot of interesting activities and exhibits that get kids interested in science.

Grandma didn't really want to be photographed showing the kids how to make lumpia. It's a well kept secret that's not to be shared on the Internet!

After leaving the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, we walked to the fountains in the nearby park. O and C ran through the water. Afterward, we enjoyed a great dinner at Jack-in-Grill.

M and O tried playing African percussion instruments. All the kids participated, and then they had a parade through the children's area of the museum.

I got to show all the children (and the parents) at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science my engineering skills by teaching them how to build an arch. The real trick is to build one by yourself without any help!

2010-07 IMG 20100714 145552 v001

We went to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science to see the museum and the Body Worlds exhibition. The Body Worlds exhibition was interesting, but the kids really enjoyed this children's activity area a lot more! O had a good time with this disgusting stuffed giant spider. It freaked me out, but she liked it.

We created a new tradition between the Leonard's and the Schultz's...the kids produced and acted out their own theater shows!

After going to the park and trampoline rides, we went to the mall for food and drinks. I don't think I can take the girls to the mall any more; they seemed to look at Victoria's Secret for far too long for my comfort.

M and O really enjoyed the free trampoline rides, but O looked a little disoriented.

We picniced at the top of the mountain after getting off the tramway. The kids crawled all over these rocks chasing after chipmunks and having a good time. On these rocks, the kids were much faster than me, so I couldn't really keep up. I'm just glad nobody fell off the mountain!

We saw this really cool game at an Old Navy in Fort Collins. The machine projects an image of the game on to the floor and you can interact with it by stepping on it and kicking at objects you see. It really entertained all the kids for quite a long time.

Amazingly, we had plenty of room for all our stuff in the back of the van. This is the most organized we've ever been at the start of a road trip.
