More pics from our recent trip to the Cities, from Rody's phone. On our way back from the Cities, we stopped at the Mills Fleet Farm store in Fargo and got the kids fitted for combat helmets.

Cameraphone Pictures-small
A collage of recent photos of me. I rarely get photographed so I thought I would look for some and found a few to put together.

A Minnesota rest stop! But it's not what you think...MN rest stops are actually modern (although no Wi Fi access...way to go Nebraska!). We often find these short nature walking paths at MN rest stops that are interesting to see!
Dinner at you know where, pic081109_60
After a hard day of work at the Minnesota Children's Museum, we found our way to "you-know-where" for dinner (there are none in North Dakota unfortunately). M insisted that we go because the last time we were in the Cities the doctors made her fast in preparation for her surgery (how was I to resist), so it was her first time. It was also O's first time, too.

We stayed until the Museum closed at 5pm. I felt like C looked, but he wouldn't let me ride with him in the stroller!

Rody found C a robot claw toy so he can pretend he's Bender!

A view of the entire multi-level material handling simulation. A very interesting and fun activity!
Missing from the activity: uncooperative co-workers, micro-managing supervisors looking over your shoulder, office politics, mindless and numbingly repetitive jobs, low wages, and lifetime dependency as a wage slave! :)

M tried to get me to come up and help...but I was satisfied to delegate that responsibility to the children.

The lower level...kids feed the foam cubes through an elevator up to the second level.

C moved around this so fast, I could barely catch him in the shot. I teased him for being a "rate-buster"! They're supposed to feed these foam cubes into the chute where they fall to the lower level.

On another part of the Work World exhibit, kids could operate a multi-level simulation of a material-handling operation...kind of like what you would see in a warehouse or at an airport. It's amazing how kids can be so excited by doing something that adults call "work", and are willing to do it for the fun of it instead of getting paid!

I had to keep reminding M to let other kids have a chance at the crane.

This part of the museum is called "Work World" and demonstrated ideas like work, cooperation, physics, and engineering. M was facinated by this part of the exhibit where you operated a large crane to lift beams onto a truck bed. She wouldn't let me play with it at all!
